Autodesk University Session Focus: Integrating AutoCAD Map 3D and ArcGIS with Autodesk Vault
Autodesk Vault has primarily been used to manage engineering workflows, change orders and documents. However, for the typical architecture, engineering, and infrastructure workflows, a large component of every project consists of the development and publication of GIS reports, planning maps, and detailed analysis that incorporates both construction documents and GIS files.
This December, Stephen Brockwell and Frank Misurec of Brockwell IT Consulting will be presenting a lecture on how to integrate AutoCAD Map 3D and ArcGIS with Autodesk Vault. Join us to learn how you can store the templates, files, and data connections of ArcCatalog and ArcMap in Vault software, as well as how to configure Vault software security to better ensure clear distinctions between GIS administrators and GIS end users. The session will also cover how to use the data versioning features of Vault software to manage interim states of geographic information system projects and how to publish DWG files, SHP files, and other files from AutoCAD Map 3D software and ArcMap directly to Vault software.
In this class we will also cover how to use Autodesk Vault in the context of AutoCAD Map 3D software, ESRI’s ArcGIS, ESRI’s ArcMap, and ESRI’s ArcCatalog GIS, with a simple plug-in developed with the Vault software API. We will demonstrate how to integrate ArcMap templates, SHP files, data connections, layers, and other GIS data sources with the Vault software to significantly improve the efficiency of the architecture, engineering, and infrastructure design process.
The session “Vault is for More than Engineers: Integrating AutoCAD Map 3D and ArcGIS with Vault” will be presented on Wednesday, December 3 from 10:00-11:30 am. If you haven’t already registered for Autodesk University, you can go to the official site to find out more about it, look over the course catalog and register. We look forward to seeing you there!
